What I did this week was working on my Rube Galloway project with my small group, working on the yearbook with the all the girls, making Thank you cards that helped us through out this camp, finishing up my mural with my group, all around the world, and much more. But my favorite activity of the week was making 2 posters of how to make sushi because that was our favorite dish out of the 30 days we had. I had learned so much from this camp, and now we are having a  presentation for our parents to show how much we learned. my top 4 favorite moments of the whole summer was hanging out in the gym, watching movies and tasting new foods from all around the world, getting on the computer to communicate with my friends on fb to relax my self from all the fun that I had, last all my hiking trips that made my day complete of happiness. The three things i learned from this summer was how to make an egg drop, how to make sushi, and make a simple task difficult. But I'm am looking froward to is starting high school and having my best 4 years count!!

my last week

Hey everybody this is malik and this is my last week. This week we finished up some projects like the graffiti murals. We also delivered the art to Project Place. The purpose of our art was to liven up the place so it is not so depressing. My favorite activity was was the basketball Olympics because Icould show off the skills that I learned. My favorite activities were basketball cooking class and fitness class. i learned how to shoot a basketball how to jump higher and to run. i am looking forward to to going back to school.

This week was fun we sat an watch a movie for hike. An I won the one on one basketball tournament. My favorite activity would be when we had the one on one tournament. my top three moments would be when this boy was going back an forth with these to girls, and well it was funny but at the same time it wasn't because he started to cry. when we where at lunch an I put the camcorder up to his chest. Last it would be when Mr. Clifford asked me to take over the class for the day. I was going to do it again on friday I had to go to my family Reunion.three things I learned this summer was how to fix a bike and bike parts. another would be that you can get aids by being born with it. last it would be some people can be homeless an have a talent. to going to the pool and to see if these people going to be there.

2011 SUMMER Camp

Hey its me gary yeah with the final blog here at vlp. The things Ive done this week was preparing for friday(tommorow) which is the final day at camp and when we present all our work. My favorite activity of this week was basketball. we had another tournament i lost to a girl IM HURT BUT ILL LIVE. I like the tournament becausei didnt get to do it last friday. My top 3 activities was basketball,Hiking,Workout class. 3 things ilearned this summer is how to eat halthy, play ball better,and that maryland isnt as boring as it seems. Well now that my summers winding down im going to the beach saturday and monday  i start summer bridge and  thats the rest of my summer

This week we went to project plase to give our paintings that we made.My favorite activity of the week was yearbook because we are almost done and this week we got to see how the 1st copy of the yearbook came out! One of my favorite activities this whole summer was  Drama because we got to make up our own play. Another favorite activity was music because we got to watch movies all the time and we listen to songs that were in 2011!!! One last activity was yearbook because we got to make up our on style that we would want the yearbook to be in and we got to take pictures of the little students and funny pictures of the little students!
I learned in this summer camp about communication during basketball and sportsmanship. Another picture I learned was about bikes and the diffrent parts of and how to fix them instead of buying a  new one. The things that im looking foward to for the rest of this summer hopefully going to kings Dominion and Im going to the beach!!!!!

mitchell's last stand

Whats up every body it's mitchell with my last post and my last week in theVLP. Im sort of sad that it's my last but I had tons of fun; this week i won a medal in basketball; we donated our posters to a homeless place called Project Place; we finished our murals and we are preparing to present them in front of everyone and I'm sort of sad. My favorite activity was basketball because I really improved in it and because I WON. My top moments of my summer were riding in a 100 year old streetcar; winning the competition and seeing how much I got in shape. This summer I learned how to really help people who need it; how to dribble better; and I learned how to do a real push-up. Now that camp is over Im going back to school next week so see ya later.

hey its me myisha and i ant to tell you about what i did this week at link. first i want to tell you about when we had made posters for project place. project place is the first homless shelter we had went to. my favorite activity that i had this week was basketball because i am starting to like all of the activities that we are doing in that class. what i am looking for this week is the last day because i heard that it was going to be fun and i can't wait to do every thing that i had been practicing for so good luck to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

one more thing that i did this week was go to kings dominion with my family it was really fun see you next time.

What I did this week was work on our graffiti walls doing spray painting. We also work on our painting for the Project Plase and were going to put it up at there homeless shelter.

My favorite activity was the working on our painting for the project plase, because were helping people and making where they live look more like home and make it look more welcoming to visitors.

What Im looking forward to next week is giving our painting to the Project  Plase so we can see how they appreciate what we did and if they like it.

Hey wassup its me gary my 5th week at link summer program I cant wait for next week because we have so much to do since its the final week. What I like about this week was when we went hiking to the crazy art musuem downtown in the inner harbor. What im looking forward to next week is the compitition in basketball classcant wait to win yeah. My favorite activity so far was playing basketball with coach Daniel class. mitchell's week 4 experience

What's up everybody its me Mitchell again with my update on what's going on at camp right now. This week we  went to visit the Blacks of Wax mueseum which taught me a whole lot of new things about my history. Also in tthe museum i saw a lot of graphic thngs and that showed me what it was like to grow up back then. This week im lookin forward to fitness so i can get more in shape for the sports I wiil play this fall. I'm also looking forward to ccoking so I can try some new foods. We have recently learned about Rube Goldberg. He was an inventor. He made these crazy, and very difficult contraptions for doing something simple. This is one of his examples...

Now we are also building a contraption just like and I am looking forward to completing it.

hey I'm back. Boy was this week hot, but i manged to have fun anyway. This week I worked on bicycles and we started to paint our murals and that was fun. I worked out and i got a little stronger. I am looking forward to cooking class because the food is really good. Well I have to go see you later

Graffiti Alley!

 

The 7th/8th grade students took a trip to the graffiti alley behind Load of Fun Gallery and posed for a photograph with some of their favorite pieces.  

The students are using these artworks as inspiration for the graffiti murals that they are designing for the community.

Painting begins this week!

 The students have already begun sketching their mural boards.

Topics included in their murals are equality, respect, art, and diversity.

Students hope to show their community that graffiti art can be used for more than just gang purposes.

 They are using graffiti to express themselves and portray positive messages to the community.

3rd Week

Hello again bloggers! I had fun this week with being out of camp for a bit. Staying at home with mom is just what i needed to stay rejuvinated. My favorite activity was going to the besillica last week, it was really beautiful and fun! The class im looking forward to next week is the forign food and films beacuse we didnt have it this week. Also it's just a really fun class! ok well that's all i have to say for now. mitchell's third week

Hello again its me Mitchell with the report on my third week of camp. This week we are working on our graffiti boards and its very fun and its giving us a chance to show how creative we are. Its sort of a big deal because what we put on our grafiti boards will go up in the community and everyone will see them.this week we also went to a carribean festival at Morgan Stae University which was very fun and we saw a lot of amazing things such as people on stilts, a lady doing very nice carribean style dances, and lastly we saw a ldy do limbo under something that was about 1 foot high which was my favorite. and this week im looking forward to fitness and basketball class so i can burn off some energy. This week on Monday we had yearbook club, Tuesday it was to hot to come to camp so they closed it. On Wensday we want on a feild trip to Morgan State University for a Carribean Festival and on the bus we had to partner up with Pre~k students and for the most part they were sweet and nice to me.
My favorite ativities this week were yearbook because we get to work with the teachers and kids and learn more about them

My third week at the vlp

My third week was pretty interesting because i was only at camp for two days. This week I competed in  a tower building competition. My partner and place 2nd and that was fun. I also work on my graffiti board with my group. In the evening I worked on fitness and basketball thanks to this program i improved my shoot in basketball and increased my stamina and most important my character has improved thanks vlp

On Monday, we made towers out of spagetti sticks & we had a competition to see who's was the tallest. On Tuesday, we didn't have camp because it was to hot. But I went swimming & I had fun. On Wensday, we worked on our grafitti stencils & our rough drafts. We are going to do the same thing today. Tomorrow we are going to work on bikes I think. The activities that were my favorite was year book & when we went to the Festival. These were my favorite activities because I had alot of fun. The classes that I am looking foward to next week is yearbook, drama-rama, & basketball, because I have alot of fun in those classes.

Mitchells week two reflection

Hello fellow bloggers, its me Mitchell again with my reflection on week two of VLP summer camp. This week was incredibly fun and I learned a lot. On Friday velocipede came to our camp and taught us some new things about bikes, we watched a foreign movie and we ate crepes. On Tuesday we we went hiking and we visited the Pratt library in downtown baltimore and took a tour of it, also we took an amazing tour of the Basilica . My favorite activity was the Basilica because I learned alot about the history behind it. My favorite class is fitness because we get to run around and also workout. So thats all folks see you next week.

2nd week

Hello all of my fellow bloggers!!! Ok so last week was pretty fun...we walked to downtown and back again and I didn't even break a single sweat! I guess this camp is conditioning me to get in better shape! I've also had yearbook twice already. It's really fun and my favorite class because I love to take pics and put together memories! Hey its me myisha again i want to tell you about what i ddid last week .last week i had played basketball but i didnt like it because i really don't like basketball but i tryed any way so good for me.my favorite activiy  of the world was music because  i am very good at it so just being able to do music here is the best thing in the world becuase if you ever meet me then you will also now that i love music so thats the best activity of the week for me.the class that i am looking forward to next week is drama class because  that class is fun its not better then music but it is a good class to be in because it teaches you a lot aboout drama.

Hey everybody this is Malik Wilson and like i said last i go to V.L.P. and it is awesome. Since I posted Velocipede came to our camp.Velocipede is a place that fixes people's bicycles. They came to our camp to teach us how to fix our own bike. We walked to the down town library and we also went to the basilica Catholic church. We also made catapults and that was pretty fun. My favorite activity  is basketball.i look forward to hiking class .Well I have gosee you later

What did I do?

On Thrusday I had music but it wasnt as great as it could have bin. It was a lot of drama but we still had fun.
On Friday at camped we learnd how to work with bikes with velocipede people that came and showed us    the different parts of a bike. They had us do hands~on activities, like we were working on hubs and takeing them apart and put them back together.
My Favorite activity of the week was yearbook club because we got to take pictures of some of the students at the summer program here and get to do iterviews of the teachers here.
The class im looking foward to the most is yearbook club because I want to learn more about the students here and teachers who wark here and what they do outside of  the camp like when they have free time.

Last week we did alot of things. On Friday we learned about fixing bikes with the right tools. I didn't really like doing it, because to me it was boring. The only part I liked was when we took apart the chain & put it back together. On Thursday we put primer on our grafitti boards & that was fun. I forgot what we did the other days. My favorite activity of the week was basket-ball, yearbook, & drama-rama. Those were my favorite activities because i had fun & in yearbook we have a suprise for everyone at the end of the summer ( when camp is over ) . The classes that I am looking foward to next week is basket-ball, Yearbook, & drama-rama. I have alot of fun in those classes , plus Ms.kate lets us do almost anything we want to & in yearbook I am going around taking pictures of peple in the camp. I'm glad that we  have less people in camp now because we get to do alot more without waiting for people to stop talking. For the 4th of july , I ate crabs then i went to another cookout & they were doing fireworks. Anyway , Byee !

My favorite activity so far is hikeing because we go to place in baltimore i havent really been to but Ive drove by. I graduated from Bluford Drew Jemison S.T.E.M Academy east this year. Now I am going to attend Baltimore Polytechnic Instite for the class of 2015. I am 13 ill be 14 real soon. I get straight A's. Ive done alot of things in the past week we went on a hike to the streetcar musuem and john hopkins university. Hello bloggers this is my first time blogging on the blog website and my name is David . I am going to 8th grade and I am going to The Boys Latin school of Maryland for high school as well. It is a  private school that goes through elementarty, middle , and high. About i am really tall for my age but people call me stretch or mr. Fanatisic cause of my long arms and legs. So the things we did at camp were we to the graftti wall and saw pictures that were cool and expressed some of the artists feelings as I saw. I also went on a hike and i will be going on one today as well but the firs hike we went on was a tour at a college and a streetcart museum and we got to ride on 3 of the street cars and they were old loke 100 years. First Week!
This program has let me show my adventure side. i have really enjoyed the Urban Hiking. This was definitely my favorite part! We went to Johns Hopkins University and got an awesome tour and learned a lot about the college.We also went to the Street Car Museum and rode 3 Street Cars! Aside from Urban Hiking, i have also really enjoyed Graffiti Alley. I think it's a great way to express others talent and artistic ways to speak to the world and express themselves.
